Barry Ashworth (Dub Pistols)

Barry Ashworth is a DJ, remixer, producer and front man of Dub Pistols, an ever popular, festival crowd-pleasing band who always add a cheeky  rock ‘n’ roll swagger to the UK dance scene.  Chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska and punk and spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank they have consistently defied genres and exceeded the highest of expectations.

Barry’s prolific solo DJ career takes him all over the world and is known for his full-throttle peak time DJ sets as well as playing host to Dub Pistols Sound System Live often featuring talented guest vocalists Rodney P, MC Sir Real and The Specials’ Terry Hall.  At Glastonbury 2010, the Pistols were joined live on stage by Neville Staple from The Specials for the encore ‘Gangsters’.  Barry began his musical journey by working as a club promoter, later heading off to exotic Ibiza where he established two infamous club nights: Monkey Drum and Naked Lunch. Partying with the same intensity in which he’s made his bristling music, Barry’s DJ sets are guaranteed to firestart the dancefloor with an infectious, eclectic and altogether ‘avin it mix of tough techno breakbeats fused with hip-hop, ska, punk and soul sounds.  If you don’t already, you’re going to love this party starter.

Such a nice fella, he’s also uploaded a ton of his DJ mixes on SoundCloud and the highly recommended Dub Pistols exclusive podcast recorded live at their recent Glade Festival 2011 appearance. Rocked it good and proper so they did.
